My $300 LG RC897T DVD/VTR unit quit playing DVDs after about 1 year, just after the warranty expired; DVDs spun for minutes but would not read. The store I purchased it would not replace it, and the only advice LG's Customer "Support" had was to unplug and replug it, which had no effect.

Now, after about three years, the video tape unit has also failed, just displaying snow when a tape is played. This is a completely independent part of the unit, and for it to also fail implies there is something fundamentally wrong with LG's design, manufacturing process, or inspection/test procedures, which they should be very concerned with fixing.

But their Customer Service (manager Adrian) had no interest in inspecting the problem, which indicates such failures are routine and they just do not care. I advise other consumers not to purchase products from this company.

Monetary Loss: $300.
