In 2013 I purchased an LG refrigerator from Sears. The refrigerator has a sign in the front saying 10 year compressor warranty. In June 2018 the compressor failed. I scheduled a service visit with Sears repair and found out that the compressor is not guaranteed and the repair would cost $800. I declined, but I had to pay $125 for the service call. The refrigerator was repaired by AAA APPLIANCE REPAIR for $350.

This is true of pretty much any store selling appliances. The retail stores are not responsible for warranties or service plans.

The manufacturer has a one year repair warranty on their products. The Manufacturer, not the retail store is responsible for any needed repairs for the first year. If a service plan is purchased it is provided by another company and they are responsible for repairs for the term provided beyond the one year warranty.

The retail store has no responsibility for those repairs. Your complaint is with the service company, not Menards.

Yep can’t return it. Best you can do is contact the manufacturer and claim the manufacturer warranty.

They may or may not replace it but it’s your only shot. Home Depot can’t take it back it’s beyond the return timeframe. That doesn’t make HD bad. That’s just the way it is.

After 6 weeks any problems are between you and the manufacturer and HD has zero liability in the situation. Why is it that you people always blame the retail seller? How would HD have had any idea that 6 weeks after you purchased the appliance it would have problems?

They can’t, they couldn’t, and no one is given the gift of clairvoyant ability when they are hired. So when these situations arise you always get a hold of the manufacturer as they are the only ones who have ANY liability.

LG Products vs Warranted Repairs | Lg Electronics

I do not recommend any LG products. We purchased a refrigerator from Home Depot and it has stopped cooling. I contacted LG and used the reset instructions they gave and it did not help. I called a repair service and they looked at the unit and told me it is a “sealed”unit and they don’t service these systems. I contacted LG and they said I needed to contact AAA Appliance Repair who does their repairs. AAA told me that they won’t work on anything without authorization from LG. I again called LG who told me that they would e-mail authorization within 48 hours, that was 6 days ago. I called LG again and they now informed me that AAA doesn’t work on sealed system either. I asked the person helping me if they knew this why didn’t they contact a repair service that did work on these systems and of course she could not help. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me they will have to send this to their “resolutions department” and it will take another 4 to 7 days for them to find a repair facility. We have been without our refrigerator for a month and this have been very expensive, necessitating eating out or buying prepared foods. It now appears the only recourse I have is seek legal actions. In addition I am filing complaints with the BBB and Consumer Reports. I am also going to post this on Facebook.
