Had this Fridge for 5 years - 3 months after extended warranty over - freezer and Fridge no longer cooling. Called LG because of the 7 year sealed system warranty - a big factor in my purchasing this unit. Found out that labor is not covered. Their local certified repair company said its just over $400 to repair it due to the amount of labor involved. That's almost 25% of the cost of the fridge for a repair !
So basically its not worth repairing and will end up in a landfill.
This appliance, for the original cost of around $2,250 should last 7-10 years.
Will not buy LG again - any appliance what so ever.
Isn't there some EPA lawsuit that could be slapped on LG for their sealed system failures ? The whole idea of the sealed system is to prevent the refrigerant from leaking out. I've read some many posts online about the sealed system failures that you would think the EPA would catch wind of this ???????
So thousands of the $2,000 + Refrigerators are just being tossed ? What happened to consumer & environmental protection ?
